Pun, Twista, BONE and BONE-dickrider’s Do Or Die are a few rappers who’ve perfected quick, multisyllabic delivery.

Pun and Joe go back and forth, alternating verses. Their voices are similar, but Pun rhymes the verses starting…

When you hear those lines, that’s Pun speaking. For a rapper stereotyped as having money, orgies and little introspection, Pun is surprisingly observant.

Excessive violence on the streets in the form of guns (cannon) wreaks havoc. More importantly, it reveals his Machiavellian nature.

Streets are rough. Especially for minorities (cultural bias).

Pun had a totalitarian view on the streets. Impending violence creates fear, which leads to submission. The line starting “better acknowledge” solidifies this point: as long as Pun is breathing, he will exert power over those around him. Violence is his instrument and also the only way to displace his power.

Bottom line: there are plenty of highly talented rappers lacking critical acclaim. Pun can compete lyrically at the highest echelons but a lack of mainstream acclaim and early demise stifled his rise. To score multiculturalist brownie points, praise Big Pun in front of a Puerto Rican and you’re now part of the family.

“Alpha” contains its own benefits and seeds of destruction. Observant bloggers have recognized the traits to attract women typically stand against combined interests of society. In that vein, I will deconstruct the behavior of some alpha acquiantances.

Salmon was a coworker of mine year back. This pseudonym is appropriate because I would tease him about a pink button-up he’d wear. This was one of the few times I found a soft spot and could push his buttons. His typical response to my teasing was silence or redirecting the conversation onto a topic he liked. I would exploit this weakness by calling him derogatory terms like “fag” and “homo”.

He is a fascinating case study because he’s not a natural. Guy lost his v-card around 18, a late-bloomer influenced by his family’s religion. Bulking up in college and playing an important role on a shitty D3 team proved fertile soil for a young, sexually repressed man. Quote: “[I] was called Dirt because of all the dirty skanks I banged” When asked about the number of women he’s slept with, he offered a similar explanation as Tucker Max: “Do you remember how many beers you’ve drank?” He pegged his number around 80. He was 30 then.

Alpha Advantages
The guy kept his cool all the time. I’d only heard his voice raise when he was discussing a passion or hobby. Typically, he was unflappable. In the manner he carried himself, his self-importance was evident. His repeated positive interactions with girls in college created an unshakable frame. An enjoyable, likeable asshole.

Alpha Disadvantages
Salmon and I constantly played subtle power games. This struggle manifested itself in non-venomous verbal sparring and attempts to socially dominate each other. I never took it personal and he never indicated he did, either. Perhaps we both understood the game never ends until one of us is dead. The power games arose because we both have dominant personalities. I had my work cut out, as he was five years older with more experience in life. He actively maintained social dominance by putting people down and ignoring them. As a self-described “big, dumb animal”, his social skills were par excellence.

Mr. R
Mr. R was my boss at the same store with Salmon. Only a year older than Salmon, but infinitely more mature. Having a family young will do that to a man. Mr. R maintained appropriate distance from his coworkers, occasionally meeting us for happy hour. I remember a time at Frog Bear & Wild Boar when he asked for my advice on raising his daughter well. Our relationship was primarily business, but personal topics surfaced infrequently.

Mr. R came into work one Monday with a large gash on his forehead. Last weekend, while on a double date, Mr. R and company was held at gunpoint by two muggers, one armed. Reflexively, instinctually, he lunged at the firearm, but it went off and he was shot in the forehead. The gun discharged before they could wrestle it from the perpetrator’s hands. The two guys ran off. You’d think Mr. R would be dead on the street with his brains coloring the sidewalk. Luckily, the muggers had BB guns, not lethal ordnance.

PM: That’s awesome. You didn’t even flinch and sprang into action.
Mr R: Awesome? If that was a real gun, I’d be dead right now.
PM: Still awesome.

Alpha Advantages
Clear-headed, focused on the goals of our branch. This guy never, ever said a bad word or scolded people. Rather, his disappoint was evident in his facial expressions. Ironically, I felt worse seeing that face than being yelled at by previous superiors. It was quiet disapproval, subtle but effective. He followed a fundamental system of rewarding good behavior through acknowledgement, punishing bad behavior through withdrawal. Mr. R and I never had power struggles, because he treated me with respect and I respected his authority as my boss.

He broke the stereotype of stuffy, responsible managers. This guy was drinking, smoking, drunk driving, and sleeping around like the rest of us. This was balanced by his devotion to his children and then-fiancee.

Alpha Disadvantages
I cannot think of one. He treated all employees well and softened that with teasing. Cooperative coworkers, like our warehouse manager and part-time staff, respected him. Rebellious coworkers, like Salmon and I, even marched to his tune. Strolling in two hours late daily showed he wasn’t a morning person, but he compensated by staying late most nights. If Mr. R offered me a job working for him, I’d accept in a heartbeat.

No, former Ohio Lair-ites, not that “Beast”. Rather, an older gentleman I know. His alphaness polarizes reactions of those around, to a degree I’ve never seen before.

Alpha Advantages
Loud, dominant, physically imposing. With a notch count surpassing Salmon’s, he also capitalized on a toned body in his youth to attract women. He raised his son as a responsible, productive member of society. A former Regional Manager of a giant supply warehouse, he’s exercised his power on multiple planes.

His loudness and social dominance lacks tact, which pits many against him. Socially, they capitulate. Behind scenes, they talk shit. His dominance is his greatest strength and weakness.

Previous to the Nixon legislation in ’71, gold traded at $35 per troy ounce and the value of the dollar against each milligram of gold was around $900. So why are people buying gold, silver, and other precious commodities? Their value is in themselves, while inflation could one day make the dollar as worthless as the paper its printed on. Go big or go home. Buy a bar. 400 ounces X $1,700 per ounce = $680,000. Wear that mu’fugga around your neck a la Flava Flav. The important criteria is to only accept the physical gold or silver. I would not take the chance on an institution to honor our agreement of holding my investment should a default occur. Sure, it says backed by the FDIC, but come hell or high water, Big Brother is getting his share. Find an institution that isn’t a puppet for the government or financial powerhouses. Avoid the US Gold Reserve’s list. A private depository or home safe would work.

Best case scenario: gold will continue to be a better investment than the dollar. If the Nixon Shock of ’71 is reversed, outsourced production jobs return and gold becomes the US-based or international-based standard, economic prosperity won’t be far behind but gold will still be a better option for years, if not decades or longer.

Worst case scenario: gold continues to be a better investment as the dollar loses more strength. Our debt climbs as we sink deeper. More jobs outsourced, inflation or default as debt rises, social, economic dystopia. Manufacturing moves overseas but they still need gold for electronics, jewelry, chemistry, and hospital equipment. The French Revolution was the inspiration for the American Revolution. Do I love America? Yes, it’s my culture and I’m proud of it. At least, proud of what being an American used to mean. I love football, barbeques, movies, industriousness, hamburgers and competition. This country is full of young men like myself willing to work hard to secure a comfortable lifestyle, but when that energy is suppressed, it finds release in different avenues.

DISCLAIMER: America has this weird love/hate relationship with violence. Guns and death are glorified in movies yet a man grabbing a woman’s wrist is condemned as “abusive”. I am not issuing a call for violent overthrow of our government but merely examining what past cultures have done against similar oppressive regimes.

Growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood, I was rarely exposed to other races. Even back then, skin color didn’t matter to me. I befriended two Indian cousins but thought they were “black” because at age six, who knows? Later, a wave of Croatian immigrants crashed into our high school. Plenty made fun of them. The guys looked more rugged and masculine than whites, so whites would quietly tease their Neanderthal features. We never shared a class so the opportunity for friendship never appeared. They stayed in their circle and that’s fine. Their girls had wicked figures, though. Hourglass. What do they put in their water?

College was culture shock. I soon fell in love with bubble tea, Moy’s on High, pitas, gyros, sushi, German sausagehausen, and some of their women, too. Loatians hired Loatians, blacks hired blacks, Greeks hired Greeks. Friendships formed frequently. With people interacting toward a common goal, like partying or school projects, it felt natural. One Russian I dated either confided in me or lacked political correctness when she told me she didn’t like black people. Either way, she wasn’t rude to Assanova when we all went out. She was polite but didn’t engage in conversation. With her background, multiculturalism wasn’t for her. Whenever I’m in town, Assanova and I roll with an Indian cat. Multiculturalism is for me. Since an early age, I’ve been fascinated by theology of other cultures. Foreign women have an irreplacable allure compared to women of my nationality. My last commitment was to a hispanic girl. Multiculturalism is not for everyone, however.

History is rife with examples of two different ethnicities in close proximity engaging in warfare. Collaborative efforts are common, also, but I’d wager the majority of strife came from international warfare, not intranational. The majority of a nationality enjoy their culture and do not want to dabble in others. You might see a shopper pick up some tacos but not at a club on Cicero.

Chicago has a good recipe for handling its multiculturalism. Whites would say “it’s a very segregated city” with an ominous undertone. I say its different cultures working and contributing to their communities. At public events like the Taste, music fests or street faires, willing participants can step outside their comfort zone and enjoy the different flavors. Maybe a falafel and a lover for the night?

As a daily commuter along the bus and rail system, I’d made a variety of commute friends in various nationalities. Multiculturalism is not for everyone, however. Certain drivers were cold to me but warm to their own people. That’s fine.

Friends have confided confessions like “She doesn’t like white people” or “I can’t stand Mexicans” and that’s fine, too. As long as civility and respect is maintained, the races will be fine. This multiculturalism shoved down our throats in billboards, TV and movies is ridiculous, though. In that stinker “Thor” a few years back, one of the Norse gods was portrayed by a black guy? Huh?! That’s as dumb as Bradley Cooper playing Shaka Zulu. This summer, Denzel Washington in “The Life of Che Guevara”! Come on, now.

According to City Data, my zip code is approximately 90% white. This doesn’t compare to my local gas station. Of the five workers I’ve seen there, only one is white. If 90% of my county’s residents are white but only 20% of the workers at this gas station are white, how is this equal representation of the races? It’s the result of skewed employment opportunities for special interest groups.

I’m not some Neo Nazi who believes all non-whites should eagerly bear oppression from whites. Nor am I some bleeding heart liberal who believes in multiculturalism at the expense of my kin. I am, however, an observant man who’s noticed resources being forcibly transferred from one demographic to others. Resources are caught in the same zero-sum power struggle as the West’s current gender wars. It feels like white men are experiencing less opportunity growth than females or minorities.

This idea has been presented in conversations by others and read from websites but now its effects are touching me. Over the holidays, two relatives echoed my frustrations. Both relatives are professional women who’ve been responsible for hiring and firing within prestigious corporate giants. When it comes to filling quotas for tax breaks, EOE, and affirmative action, white men are below women and minorities on the eligibility totem pole. This nation’s previous economic and polical backbone edge out former felons and convicted drug abusers in Human Resources.

I’m saving my thoughts on multiculturalism for a future post but need to insert this: since “equality” is the proclaimed goal of many liberal agendas, realize that employment opportunities for all races are fine provided percentages are in line with population diversity. If my zip code is 90% white, then nine out of ten workers should be white. On the other hand, if my zip code is 90% Chinese, then nine out of ten workers should be Chinese.

The proprietorships and local businesses hire mostly their own while the corporate giants diversify their employees. My white town is bordered by a black town to the west and a Mexican village to the east. Whites don’t go to the hispanic town and work in their family stores. Mexicans hire their own people, as they should. They keep their money in their community. Whites don’t go to the black city and work in their family stores. Blacks hire their own people, as they should. They keep their money in their communities. Wal-Mart, Sunoco, McDonalds, Taco Bell, and a few others hire inversely to population demographics in this city and it weakens the employment opportunities of actual residents.

How does this affect my unemployment frustrations? It means less opportunities for me, a white male. The purpose of this blog isn’t to vent and spread my dirty laundry across the interwebz but rather to examine facets of life and offer suggestions. Starting Friday, my home-based business will be up and running. It will provide meager sustenance until I find work. It should barely cover living expenses my first month, but as someone who’s abhorred the corporate lifestyle for years, it might not be too bad.
